2024 Trustee Election Runoff
11/19/2024

No candidate from the 2024 Trustee Election exceeded 50% of the vote count as required by Fund statute to secure a position on the Board of Trustees. AFRF will hold a runoff election between the two candidates who received the highest vote counts:

  • John Bass (incumbent)
  • AJ Padilla

The runoff election will be hosted by the same outside vendor, YesElections and will be conducted by secret ballot. Voting will open on December 2 at 9AM CT and close on December 16 at 5PM CT. All active and retired firefighters are eligible to vote in this runoff election. Each member will be provided with new unique credentials (Election Code and Voting PIN) and may choose to cast their vote electronically or by mail. Each member is eligible for only one runoff vote, regardless of voting method. Paper ballots must be postmarked by the closing date of the runoff election and received by December 23. Election results will be certified at the January Board Meeting, scheduled for January 24, 2025, at which time the elected trustee will also commence their three-year term. Runoff election results will be posted in advance of the meeting.

Voting instructions will be sent from YesElections electronically and/or by mail according to the contact information on file with the Austin Firefighters Retirement Fund. If you do not receive your ballot or require further assistance with voting, please contact the YesElections Help Desk at:
